and Suggestions of Batch 5 Sea Teacher Program
Purposes
of Practicum
The
SEA Teacher Project or the Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast
Asia is a project that aims to provide opportunity for pre-service student
teachers from universities in Southeast Asia to have teaching experiences
(practicum) in schools in other countries in Southeast Asia.
The
purposes of the project are to enable pre-service student teachers to develop
their teaching skills and pedagogy, to encourage the pre-service student
teacher to practice their English skills, and to allow the pre-service student
teachers to gain a broader regional and world wide view about education. Based
on the SEAMEO seven priority areas to improve the quality of education in
Southeast Asia.
Procedures
of Practicum
The
practicum period is for one month. The student teachers roles and
responsibilities are assigned weekly during the one month period consist of
observation, teaching assistant, teaching practice, evaluation and reflection.
The host universities will provide mentors to supervise and monitor the student
teacher throughout the practicum period.

The
Challenges of Practicum
The
challenges of practicum exist in the class management, with 40 students in each
class, the student teacher have to make a louder voice, a bigger handwriting in the
board, call the different students for recitation, devide the students into
smaller groups and ask the students to work in conducive situation.
Overall
Impression
As
a student teacher in this
program, its really make me think that to be a
teacher is the precious moment. By learning I am teaching and by teaching I am
learning. Give an education to others make me feel that I have to keep being a learner for
the rest of my life. I wish I would be one of
the future educators of future
generations. For other impression, in making a lesson plan, we have to present
the values and application of the lesson for each meeting. It can make a good
lesson for students that everything they learn are related to their real
life. Sea Teacher program really
help me to improve my teaching experince
according to my major. Also, the students showed the respect to me as a student
teacher, respect with greeting, listen when i teach them as like i am their real teacher,
friendly, and many other things.
Finally,
this is the best way that God gave to me and I am not regret anything here. I
am really grateful to be here as an exchange students. I have learned a lot of
things that made me more mature, especially open my mind wider. Since I stay in
Thailand
for one month, I have already know more about myself, how my strengths and my weakness,
and how does it feel when we out of the comfort zone. I have fight and learned
hard to get a best scores and experiences, I am so grateful that God gave me
the best result and I always believe that the fight, effort, and patience will
gain the best result. The beautiful things await.
Suggestions
for Future Improvement
Suggestion
for the future, the students teacher can implemented all the positively
teaching experiences from other country including how to be a good teacher, how
to manage the class, how to make a best quality lesson plan, and many other
things. We can compare of both countries and can improve the english
skills and pedagogy.
